“Not Something Daniel Cormier Could Do”: Matt Riddle’s Bold ‘Jon Jones’ Statement Ahead of Fight Pit May Affect His Chances of Winning

WWE Extreme Rules 2022 is going to be an exhilarating event, with many high-profile matches set. The match card is one of the most promising ones in a long time, with the card even looking extreme after a long time.

With Triple H’s guidance, the PPV finally seems to live up to its name. But one of the most expected matches of the night is Matt Riddle vs Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins in a fight pit match, with UFC Legend Daniel Cormier officiating it.

Matt Riddle going against Rollins is one of the most anticipated matches even more so after the duo produced a stellar at Clash at the Castle. Before the event, Riddle appeared on WWE After The Bell Podcast, where he joked about Cormier being biased.

Riddle joked about Daniel Cormier holding a grudge against Riddle for defeating Jon Jones in high school. Riddle claimed, “DC, World Double Champion, Hall of Famer, stallion among stallions, especially in the UFC, but the guy could never technically be Jon Jones, and I would say I beat Jon twice in high school.”

The former RAW Tag Team Champion claimed that although the match was amateur, and they were still children, it still did happen. He concluded with, ” I was a stallion and that’s just not something Daniel Cormier could do. So, hopefully, that doesn’t come back to haunt me and DC calls it down the middle.”

Riddle and Rollins have been going at each other for a long time, and the Fight Pit match was something that could do justice to their feud, and hopefully bring it to an end.

What does Daniel Cormier’s appearance in WWE mean?

It has now been rumored for a long time that Cormier might face Brock Lesnar. Cormier officiating the match between Riddle and Rollins might only be just the beginning of his run in WWE. Previously in UFC, a fight between Lesnar and Cormier was teased. However, it never took place.

Now, only WWE seems an appropriate place for it, since that moment. Also, Dave Meltzer has reported that Cormier might not come to WWE in a full-time role and that a match between Lesnar and Cormier could be expected at WrestleMania.

Lesnar has not been in WWE since losing to Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam 2022. However, a recent picture of him went viral on the internet, where he was seen in his old appearance, clean-shaven. It might indicate a heel turn on Lesnar’s part and setting up the feud between DC and The Beast Incarnate.
