“With All Due Respect…”: Logan Paul Missing Out on Major Yearly Accolade Draws Ire of a Former Wrestler

WWE has been known to feature celebrities on a constant basis. Not many can accomplish the feat which was accomplished by Youtuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul last year. He teamed up with The Miz to take on the father-son duo of Mysterios at WrestleMania 38.

His performance was so impressive in the match that it led to the promotion signing him. However, AEW newbie Hook took the accolade of Rookie of The Year. A previous wrestler does not quite agree and says Paul should have won instead.

The Maverick shocked everyone when he challenged The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel last year. The company also left no stone unturned in building hype around the main event.

The encounter itself was a treat to the eyes. Paul matched the seasoned pro-Reigns every step of the way. His not winning the aforementioned accolade has surprised many, including former WWE wrestler Shane Helms.

Former WWE wrestler backs Logan Paul

He wrote on his Twitter, “With all due respect, how does anyone other than Logan Paul get Rookie of the Year for 2022? He had one of the best first years in the biz I’ve ever seen”. The former wrestler does bring an opinion that would be shared by many.

But as revealed by PW Insider, it was the choice of people to crown Hook instead of Paul.

Tyler Cole Senerchia, more popular with his ring-name Hook, made his AEW debut back in 2020. The son of the wrestling legend, Taz has shown the promise previously shown by his dad. The new wrestler also won the re-introduced FTW championship in 2022.

Paul’s performance at Crown Jewel was quite impressive

Coming back to The Maverick, his impressive showing at the Saudi event came with a cost. The relatively new performer injured himself during the match but kept wrestling nevertheless.

Paul did not go at it alone with the first WWE appearance from his brother ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul. The senior brother was also mentioned in legend John Cena’s Instagram post sparking speculations of an exciting showdown between the two.

Logan Paul may have been bested by Hook for The Rookie of The Year Award, but he has won over many fans. The skills that he has so effortlessly pulled off in the ring are a testament to his capacity. While there is always room to improve, there would be many who would agree with Shane Helms.

Nevertheless, in a short wrestling career, Paul has shown what he can achieve in the squared circle and fans would be wondering what’s next in this adventure.
