In a rare crossover between the worlds of boxing and pro wrestling, boxing legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson faced off against D-Generation X with Chris Jericho. The Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion had appeared on Monday night RAW. He teamed up with Jericho, who was at the peak of his fame and popularity. The duo faced off against Triple H and Shawn Michaels in the main event of Monday night RAW.

The event was during the peak of WWE culture. The popularity of the WWE, coupled with another sport’s biggest star, made the match a unique occurrence. Mike Tyson was easily a fan favorite in the combat sports circles. 

The bout started out with Mike Tyson entering the ring with Chris Jericho, a sight that set the stage ablaze. The two superstars faced off against Triple H and Shawn Michaels, who formed DX. Emotions were high, and expectations for an amazing match were in the air.

Vintage Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson and Shawn Michaels started off in the ring. The two fought briefly and tagged in their partners, when there was a shocking entry.

WWE Superstar Hornswoggle entered the ring. In a surprise twist, Tyson positioned himself behind Jericho and took off his shirt. He revealed that he was teamed up with Hornswoggle all along, and knocked Jericho out with his patented right hook. Michaels pinned Jericho, giving the win to DX. The (conscious) stars hugged it out in the ring, which sealed one of the greatest moments in WWE history.

The WWE’s greatest strength has been its talent and its ability to cross over to other cultures. Mike Tyson was the youngest World Heavyweight Champion, and a common name in every household. It was a perfect move to get him into the ring, bringing about a combination of the best of 2 different cultures.

Numerous boxers have crossed into the WWE space, including ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury and Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. The WWE has never looked more attractive to stars from other sports since the time Mike Tyson knocked out Chris Jericho in front of a full audience.
