WWE often sees big names from other sports appear on its programming as part of its sports entertainment extravaganza.

But from time to time, its top stars also appear in other promotions, with boxing and WWE enjoying a close relationship.

This was on display in 2012 when the current WWE Head of Creative accompanied popular boxer, Floyd Mayweather, before his big-money match against Miguel Cotto.

The Game and Canadian singer Bieber were part of Mayweather’s entourage as he made his way to the ring. A rare picture shows Triple H and Canadian singer Justin Bieber holding Mayweather’s title belts during the introduction to his match.

Rare Photo of Triple H holding the title belt of Floyd Mayweather before his big-money fight

Mayweather’s boxing match against Cotto in 2012 was a huge deal. The match for the Super Welterweight Championship in Las Vegas carried a combined purse of $40 million with “Money” Mayweather alone, pocketing $32 million from the fight.

However, this massive match purse still fell short of the Nevada record of $41 million purse which belonged to the Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield bout in June 1997 according to the Los Angeles Times.

Thus it was a big coup for WWE to have a presence at this fight, which was studded with stars from the world of pop culture. A rare photo from the event resurfaced in which Triple H held one of Mayweather’s title belts, while Justin Bieber hoisted two belts up in the air before the match.

Triple H enjoys a good friendship with Mayweather. He worked closely with the boxer in 2008 to help him prepare for his match against the Big Show at WrestleMania 24.

Afterward, Mayweather won the fight to extend his record to 43-0 and added Cotto’s WBA junior middleweight title to his glittering collection.

For the fans of pro wrestling, it must have been intriguing as well as exciting to see someone like Triple H be part of Mayweather’s famed entourage on such a grand stage.

Will Mayweather return to WWE?

Ever since Mayweather wrestled the Big Show at WrestleMania in 2008, fans have wondered whether the boxer will make a return to WWE. He is good friends with the current man in charge of things, Triple H and that could mean a possible appearance down the line.

In fact, in 2017, Triple H praised Mayweather and discussed bringing back the decorated boxer to the squared circle. With Triple H now calling the shots in WWE it may not be difficult to fathom an in-ring return for the Pretty Boy.

He will bring his own set of fans and eyeballs to WWE’s product and his celebrity status would mean a lot of attention from the mainstream media as well.
