Pro wrestling bringing big names from other sports isn’t anything new. After WWE’s success in the Rock N Wrestling era, other wrestling promotions have followed suit. WCW brought in the likes of NBA star Dennis Rodman during the Monday Night Wars, while WWE had boxing legend Mike Tyson appear on TV in the 90s. Tyson has also found a new home in pro wrestling lately and it is All Elite Wrestling.

Mike Tyson appeared for the upstart AEW in 2020 at the promotion’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. A year later he was back in the company, this time showing up at their weekly show Dynamite. Since then he made a couple of more appearances for AEW and showed up on this week’s Rampage as a guest commentator. However, some fans were not too keen to see Iron Mike make his AEW return
Fans are not too pleased with AEW bringing in Mike Tyson
Despite hanging his boxing gloves a long time ago, Mike Tyson is still a popular figure and draws attention wherever he shows up. AEW roped him in for an appearance at the Double or Nothing PPV in 2020, where he presented the TNT Championship to Cody Rhodes.
A few days later, he would also confront his old WWE nemesis, Chris Jericho, on Dynamite. In 2021, on an episode of Dynamite, he rushed to the aid of Jericho against The Pinnacle. The next week, he was the special guest enforcer for a match between Jericho and Dax Harwood.

The former boxing Heavyweight Champion made his return to AEW this week on Rampage. He took a seat in the commentary booth as a special guest commentator for the show. However, fans had an indifferent reaction to Tyson appearing on AEW TV, especially after his recent health scare.

It is pertinent to note that a couple of months ago, Tyson was spotted in ailing health condition at the Miami airport. Fans saw the boxing legend needing a wheelchair for support. It was later revealed that Tyson had a sciatica flare up in his lower back, which left him temporarily paralyzed. Maybe that is why a lot of fans had apprehensions about him appearing in a wrestling promotion once again.
