Logan Paul at Jake's fight—Is this a sign he's winning at SummerSlam?

In the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown from the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, the signing of the contract for the United States Championship at SummerSlam 2024 finally took place. One that will pit the champion, Logan Paul, against LA Knight. After weeks of trying to get a shot at the United States Championship, which was continually rejected by Paul, LA Knight got the contract and the signature of the general manager of the blue brand last week, forcing the champion to sign the document. But the YouTuber did not appear on that show. Finally, after what happened in the show, the fight was made official for the biggest event of the summer.

The signing also featured the two delivering promos, where LA recalled that the last time they faced each other, he pinned the champion, which made the public continue to be more by his side. This made the Maverick snap as he tried to attack Knight and end the feud prematurely, but that did not happen in the end. However, this truly proves that Paul is getting affected by Knight’s words. Something that might cause him the title. A premonition of which was shown by his appearance in his brother Jake Paul‘s fight against Mike Perry.

Does the recent past indicate a likely SummerSlam future?

Tonight, Mike Perry entered the fight without much to lose, which could’ve simply worked in his favor. A loss would not significantly affect his BKFC career. Jake Paul, however, had a lot at stake. A convincing victory was crucial to maintaining his credibility. Especially with a major fight against Mike Tyson on the horizon. But he held on to his nerves and won his bout against Perry via knockout and became 10-1 in boxing. His brother Logan Paul witnessed the fight as he appeared to support his brother.

But the appearance might’ve also revealed the outcome of Paul’s fight with LA Knight at SummerSlam. How? Well, it’s all about the title, after all. Logan Paul is known for taking his title everywhere he goes. Something somewhat customary with WWE champions. However, for his brother’s fight against Perry, Logan Paul decided to ditch the championship belt.

It was a new sight for everyone who knew how attached the Maverick was to his belt. So the WWE may have already revealed to him that he will be dropping the title to Knight. Thus, this made Paul feel like he was not bringing the belt to his public appearances.

Have an interesting take?

If he does drop the title, he will surely be counted as one of the greats when it comes to the belt. And it’s not just us saying this; the pro wrestling history books would be speaking for themselves. By the time the date for the SummerSlam fight arrives, the WWE United States champion will be a part of history again.

Logan Paul shatters a major record

Logan Paul will put the United States Championship on the line against LA Knight on August 3 at the SummerSlam. Before that date arrives, the WWE United States champion will have already broken a new record. This weekend, Logan Paul will beat Austin Theory on consecutive days with the championship on his belt. Theory achieved the record in 2023, with 258 uninterrupted days as the United States champion. The Maverick currently has 257 and isn’t scheduled to make any defenses for another two weeks.

This record places him as the fighter who has achieved one of the most number of days as champion since Dean Ambrose lost the title on May 19, 2013, leaving a record of 351 days. The feat will be recorded as one of the longest reigns in the history of the WWE title. Before that record of Ambrose, we have to go back to 2007 with MVP’s 343-day title reign, or to 1991 for the 419-day reign of Rick Rude.

Logan Paul’s reign is one of the most intense debates within the WWE Universe. Despite his extensive life, he has only defended the gold on two occasions: once against Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble 2024 and another against Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in a triple threat at WrestleMania XL. But Roman Reigns, too, took a similar path and is considered one of the modern greats anyway. So what do you think of Paul’s title run? Let us know in the comments.
