Mike Tyson is a name that any promotion would love to be associated with. The Baddest Man on the planet gained notoriety for his lavish lifestyle, with excess partying at the peak of his illustrious boxing career. However, WWE president Vince McMahon spared no expense with Tyson.
During his brief stint with WWE at WrestleMania 14, McMahon made sure Tyson was comfortable and even assigned him a personal bodyguard. The WWE president went a little overboard and charged executive vice president, Shane McMahon, to aid Tyson. Not sure if Tyson needs any protection with his fists capable of handling any bad outcomes. But McMahon assured no harm came to his prince.

In a recent episode of the Grilling Jr podcast, Jim Ross revealed that Vince McMahon put Mike Tyson above all. During his tenure with WWE, ‘Iron Mike’ was given a lot of attention and care. The WWE accommodated his high-maintenance personality and also assigned him a babysitter in the form of Shane McMahon.
In his podcast, Ross narrated “We didn’t have a great deal of it stored in a closet ready to break out and use. We were all very, very hopeful. The investment was significant in his fee and he’s high maintenance and we knew that going in.” “I think that’s why Vince, I think Vince kind of seemingly maybe unofficially assigned Shane McMahon to be the babysitter.”
Also, The American Businessman just wanted them to be seen together, to flaunt Kid Dynamite’s association with the WWE. Attracting fans of The Baddest Man on the planet towards the promotion.

Vince McMahon spared no expense for Mike Tyson
Vince McMahon even went as far as buying Mike Tyson a motorcycle when he requested one. The AEW commentator recalled, “ I remember one time I was in a meeting with Vince, and Shane came in and Mike wanted a motorcycle. Vince, being the old promoter that he is didn’t want anything to stand in the way of Mike’s happiness and productivity. So, buy him a — motorcycle and that’s what they did.”

The 77-year-old brought ‘Iron Mike’ to add star power to WrestleMania and bring attention to the company. Ultimately, his involvement in WrestleMania 14 helped to elevate the event and generate a lot of hype.
While Tyson’s run in WWE was brief, it was certainly memorable. And it remains one of the most talked-about moments in the company’s history. Therefore, McMahon might think that the ends justified the means of all the expenses that went his way.
