Mike Tyson is globally famous for his great contribution to the boxing world. However, the WWE Universe also cherishes the day when he appeared at WrestleMania 14. Since then, he had made plenty of appearances in the wrestling world. Being a celebrated name, he has also come across several offers from other promotions, but The Baddest Man on the Planet recently picked WWE over others. Many surely loved this from Tyson, but not an AEW star.

In his long association with wrestling, Mike was even inducted into their Hall of Fame. But the most eye-catching one among his several appearances was his special ringside enforcer role in the WWE Championship match ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 14. Years later, his love for WWE remains unchanged.

The recent comment by the 56-year-old boxing legend was a contentious statement that might have raised some eyebrows. He put out his love for Vince McMahon and WWE unabashedly while revealing that even a higher amount offered by AEW’s Tony Khan cannot change his mind, even though he has made a few appearances recently for AEW. As soon as the world got its hands on this recent update by Iron Mike, some loved it while others got furious.

One AEW star, Shane Matthews, popularly known by his in-ring name, Matt Menard, is clearly against his statement. He took to Twitter and wrote, “What a Mark,” while going off the deep end. It is to be noted that Tyson does commentary for some AEW matches, and this could be a way to set up a possible face off between the two, if the company choses to make use of the boxer’s comments.

If we dive deep into the history of both personalities with AEW, Menard has his last match on the February 8 edition of “AEW Dynamite” where he lost to Ricky Starks. On the other hand, Tyson appeared on November 2022 at an AEW event marking his 5th appearance on the promotion.

The boxing legend’s WWE appearance was a hit

During the Monday Night Wars, WWE was struggling to compete with WCW. The ratings were declining, and not many advertisers were there to support them. But WWE slowly began to turn the tide. Tyson’s appearance for which he reportedly received $3 million helped the company to gain more popularity nationally.

Mr. McMahon’s gamble surely paid off as the WrestleMania 14 ratings skyrocketed. Not only that, but the rival WCW’s president, Eric Bischoff, even appreciated such a sharp move.
