Arnold Schwarzenegger ruled the action-hero spot in Hollywood for a long time. His hits include movies like Terminator Franchise, Commando, Predator, etc. However, in current times, it is safe to say WWE superstar turned actor Dwayne Johnson has claimed that spot.

Surprisingly, The Rock and The Governator have a connection with one of Arnie’s movies. This was spotted 20 years after the film hit the theatres.

Undoubtedly, Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most-watched Hollywood actors of all time. He acted in several movies which went blockbuster hits, while some didn’t make it as expected.

In one of those films, the Seven-time Mr. Olympia winner and Dwayne Johnson have an unexpected connection in the 2000 movie The 6th Day.

The film starts with footage of the football league XFL in play. Back in 2000, The Rock wasn’t the owner of the league, nor an actor.

Nevertheless, out of all the times DJ and Schwarzenegger shared the screen, we can count this moment in the same. 20 years after the XFL cameo in a film of The Styrian Oak, the former WWE star is the owner of the league.

The owner of XFL at the time was Vince McMahon. The tricky part is, The 6th Day, is based in the year 2015 when XFL was done and dusted due to “massive financial losses”. However, McMahon tried to revive the league in 2018, but in 2020 got an unexpected bidder, i.e. Dwayne Johnson.

As per Giant Freakin Robot’s Nathan Kamal – “The XFL appeared in The Sixth Day as a form of product placement, but did not exist in 2015 when the movie was set; it was then revived after the fictional events of the movie, with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cultural successor Dwayne Johnson now in charge (after his old boss kept messing it up). Pretty weird, overall.”

The movie shows that in the near future, animal cloning has become routine, but they prohibit human cloning by so-called Sixth Day laws. They made the film on a budget of $82 million and earned $96 million worldwide. The movie got mixed reviews.

The passing of the torch moment of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne Johnson

Arnie ruled the action hero spot for a long time before taking a hiatus from acting for politics. The Rock was transitioning into an actor, more specifically an action star in Hollywood. With Schwarzenegger believing in DJ for the same, he gave his blessing to the WWE star in a movie cameo.

In the movie The Rundown, The Governator made a cameo appearance. This moment is today called the passing of the torch from Arnie to ‘The Brahma Bull’. In this 3-4 seconds odd cameo Schwarzenegger walks past Johnson saying “Have fun”.

Surprisingly, this was an impromptu cameo deal that happened on the sets. While talking to Playboy in 2005, DJ shared it merely took Arnie 20 minutes to agree to do the cameo. The Rock had invited the bodybuilding legend for lunch on the sets of Rundown.

Clearly, this shows the respect Schwarzenegger has for Johnson. It seems he knew the importance of this scene for The Rock and it really paid off in the future.
