Dwayne Johnson is the modern-day top Hollywood action hero, a genre that was once ruled by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, etc.

The Rock has always been in a great relationship with Arnie and has a small scene in the movie The Rundown. Once he shared how Schwarzenegger agreed to the cameo in the movie and why it is important for DJ.

A long time ago, in 2005, when Dwayne Johnson had started making a name in the acting world, he sat for an interview with Playboy.

The interviewer asked him about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cameo in the movie The Rundown. Moreover, the host also asked whether this movie was a passing of the torch moment for DJ to become the next action hero in Hollywood.

Johnson said, “I didn’t anticipate an iconic moment, but he said he knew exactly what he was doing. I’d invited him to the set to have lunch, and my director, Peter Berg, walked up and said, “Hey, you want me to ask him to be in the movie for a cameo?” I said, “Yeah, ask him.” 

The 8-time WWE Champion added, “Arnold stood right up and said, “Let’s go.” And within 20 minutes we were on the set. Peter was like, “What do you want to say?” Arnold said, “I want to tell him to have fun.” Arnold knew early on that I wanted to do this, and he was helpful with advice.”

It was great of The Styrian Oak to accept the offer on short notice and do the cameo. In the short two-three-second cameo, Schwarzenegger walks past DJ in the club and says, “Have Fun”.

Indeed, this moment can be called as the passing of the action-hero baton between ‘The Great One’ and ‘The Governator.’ Shortly, after this cameo, Schwarzenegger entered into politics and became the Governor of California. Moreover, Johnson’s stock just grew as an actor in the action movie genre.

How many times have Dwayne Johnson and Arnold Schwarzenegger have been seen on screen together?

The 7-time Mr. Olympia winner passed the torch in the 2003 movie The Rundown to The Rock. Ever since Johnson grew up in Hollywood and became the top star in acting. However, that is not the only time he and Arnie shared the screen.

They knew each other for a long time as Schwarzenegger is a pro wrestling fan and DJ was a WWE superstar. Nevertheless, probably, the first time they shared the screen was in WWE in 1999. 

The Governator was a celebrity guest on an episode of SmackDown and had a backstage segment with The Rock. Way before DJ made his acting debut, The Styrian Oak warned him about the Jabronis the Hollywood.

Hence, as of now and fortunately, until 2052, Johnson will be the owner of XFL. Therefore, making this the third connection, but indirectly of both stars on the big screen.
