Eddie Kingston, also known as “King” is one of the rare pro-wrestlers who is popular without having ever worked in WWE. Having debuted in 2002, Eddie has been wrestling for 20 years now. The pro-wrestling fanbase is well versed with his work on the independent circuit. Recently, Eddie announced that he’s taking a big personal step in order to progress in his professional career.
Eddie has worked in major promotions like Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor, before debuting in All Elite Wrestling in July 2020. His “I Quit” match against Jon Moxley was a classic at Full Gear PPV. He later allied himself with Jon Moxley, and in the process, became a babyface.

He has been praised for his speaking skills and ability to cut promos and is regarded by many as one of the best speakers of the modern professional wrestling era.

Eddie Kingston wants to enter the title picture in AEW
Eddie Kingston was on the Battleground Podcast where he was saying he wants to enter the title picture in 2022. The Twitter account @WrestlePurists quoted what Eddie said on the podcast.
“I’m quitting smoking cigarettes. I’ve smoked cigarettes since I was 15. It’s gonna be a little rough, but I’m trying, & I’m trying because I want to be World Champion.”

Further in the podcast, Eddie also addressed he wants to get healthier in 2022. He said, “I’m gonna get in better shape”. King has been working in professional wrestling for a long time and now, he wants to make the most of the opportunity he has at a major promotion. To achieve that, he has taken the decision to quit smoking and focus on his aim of becoming World Champion.
Eddie on fans comparing his rise with Stone Cold Steve Austin
On the podcast, they told Eddie how his fans are comparing his AEW run with Stone Cold Steve Austin. His anti-hero and anti-authority gimmick reminds fans of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

In a way, the comparison is accurate as some fans cheer him and others boo him. However, Eddie does not compare himself with Steve Austin. He said whatever he is in the ring, he’s the same in real life. Eddie is in a good place with a contract with a major promotion and things going the way he wanted.
