After the fiasco involving the release of the backstage footage from AEW All In in London, AEW and Tony Khan are back in the news. This time, it’s due to the New Elite, featuring The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry laying out the AEW president on the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite. In a shocking turn of events, the CEO of AEW is now an on-screen character that his employees can hurt. Following the attack, Khan was seen with his father at the NFL Draft in a neck brace. So, how bad was the injury?
Perry initially gut-punched Khan, following which the Young Bucks hit him with the TK Diver. Even his father debuted on AEW to check on his fallen son.

Khan and his father, Shad Khan, have been co-owners of the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team since 2011. As owners of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the duo have an essential role in the NFL Draft. The Khans will have a pick or trade players to get the best ones to improve their team. It was during this event that Tony appeared with a neck brace on. Fans who saw the image speculated that the company was moving forward with the angle. With the AEW head honcho appearing in the NFL Draft, it is clear that the injury is not serious or even real.
Another giveaway that the injury isn’t bad is that Khan has been seen moving his neck like usual.
In Kayfabe, wrestlers with casts or braces often post a big spot to hype up the severity of an injury. This is the same with Khan at the Draft, as no medical or official statement has been produced yet.

Tony Khan has always had a hit-and-miss relationship with the audience regarding storylines and angles. While many diehard AEW fans are thrilled about his involvement in the storyline, others are not. Critics and haters have taken to bashing the angle online, calling it a cheap knock-off of WWE and WCW storylines.
In both companies, stars have attacked their bosses with little to no repercussions. In an attempt to sway fans back to the program while ratings and viewership numbers dwindle, the AEW president pulled out one of the oldest tricks in the book. While his father’s involvement has gained some attention, only time will tell if AEW can keep the momentum going for this storyline. What do you think? Tell us your thoughts on social media.
