One of the most trending news in the sports entertainment industry is the release of the movie The Iron Claw. The movie which happens to be a biopic on the wrestling industry’s most influential family, The Von Erichs, is set to release on December 22, 2023. While the movie is still yet to be released, the streaming rights of the movie have already gone to HBO Max. However, another scope is that HBO Max is rumored to be the next home of WWE’s rival promotion, AEW.

AEW, The Iron Claw, and HBO Max

According to the reports by Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery signed a multi-year U.S. contract deal with A24 which will bring their latest releases to Discovery-owned streaming platforms. This includes Max (formerly HBO Max), and Cinemax. However, the deal with A24 might not be the only deal signed by the media conglomerate. According to various reports, Tony Khan‘s All Elite Wrestling might also make its way to the same streaming platform. But that’s not the only big news for the promotion.

According to Andrew Zarian of F4WOnline.com, AEW is set to revamp its pay-per-view-event schedule ahead of 2024. According to him, the company will now host a total of 12 PPVs throughout the year. This is a massive change because Khan organized only four PPVs at the company’s inception back in 2019.

The Jacksonville-based promotion started with Revolution, Double or Nothing, All Out, and Full Gear. In recent times they have expanded to two more events, AEWxNJPW Forbidden Doors and the record-breaking All-In. While AEW’s All-In is set to return next year, fans are excited about what will the new six PPVs by the company bring for them.

The A24 drama chronicles the life of the industry’s most influential family, The Von Erichs. They were a multi-generational family of wrestlers who made their name the Texas way before WWE became a nationwide phenomenon. However, their story was not quite merry as the family was said to be suffering from a ‘curse.’ The family saw the untimely demise of many of its members at a very young age. Along with MJF, other stars include Hollywood icon Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White. With the movie moving to Max and AEW potentially making its way to the streaming platform, what do you think will be WWE’s response to this news?
