The past few days were surely not as ideal as AEW head honcho Tony Khan might have thought. Recently, fans had a reality check concerning the whopping claims made by the promotion in light of its record-breaking attendance at AEW All In. As per the recent numbers revealed by the Brent Civic Center, the attendance was less than what AEW claimed. Following all this, the recent PWI ranking showcased just a single name in the top 5 spots for the AEW. In comparison, AEW’s rival promotion had three names on the list of the top five.

The fact is not hidden from wrestling enthusiasts that the PWI rankings indeed hold paramount significance in showcasing the enforcer in the realm of pro wrestling. Serving as a barometer of a wrestler’s standing, it displayed Seth Rollins at the top of the tally recently. However, it also had two other names from the WWE.

Apart from Rollins in the top spot, the rankings also displayed the likes of The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, and current Intercontinental Champion Gunther in the top 5. In fact, the list also included the names of AEW International Champion Jon Moxley in the third spot. This, however, only marked one name in the top 5 list from the top-tier rival of the WWE. While WWE had three bigwigs, AEW had only one representative among the frontliners. Even considering the bigger picture, the WWE was still able to stand ahead of AEW on the top 10 list, having four superstars in comparison to AEW’s three.

Interestingly, all four in the top 5 hold significant gold in their respective promotions. Moreover, the list might also be a hot topic of debate for the fans. While some might hail Rollins for being in the top spot, others might not agree with the position secured by Moxley. Indeed, the two have been two of the biggest names in the modern wrestling world.

Despite the list’s immense significance, the comparison between both champions is obvious among the fans. The former stablemates have been close friends for a long time. However, their closeness had transitioned into fierce rivalry in the past as well.

What was the in-ring chemistry between the former hounds of justice?

Formerly inseparable comrades in the WWE, Seth Rollins, and Jon Moxley witnessed their relationship turn into a ferocious feud that enthralled wrestling fans. They created The Shield, a powerful group that trampled all over the WWE roster, along with Roman Reigns. However, the in-ring tensions between both bigwigs arose because of Rollins’ betrayal of The Shield in 2014.

Their rivalry, in fact, was seemingly enough to captivate fans since it was able to set the benchmark of brutality in front of them. Their in-ring chemistry continued until Moxley (then known as Dean Ambrose) became the WWE Champion after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Even after that, both came together in the storyline and were eventually able to become tag team champions, who later went on to reform The Shield.

But, after Moxley’s departure from WWE, the fans never saw them together. In fact, it remains to be seen if the former stablemates cross paths in the same company someday.
