It seems like WWE Superstars are finally getting up to speed with AEW. In a recent q&a, session, a fan asked Tyler Breeze about his preferred opponent outside WWE. His reply was definitely interesting as he named rising AEW star Orange Cassidy.

For the uninitiated, Cassidy has enjoyed a spectacular year so far. Thanks to his high profile feud with Chris Jericho, he rose higher in the AEW ranks. The NXT Tag Team Champion definitely noticed this and chose Cassidy as his ideal opponent.

Although, the wish is far from being fulfilled as Cassidy is currently under an AEW contract and WWE isn’t really a fan of inter-promotional events.

Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho’s feud this year caught massive attention. Out of their 3 battles, Cassidy won two. Their last match was at AEW All Out, which was won by Cassidy.

Now, he is all set to face AEW TNT Champion Brodie Lee (formerly known as WWE’s Luke Harper) on next week’s AEW Dynamite.

Tyler, on the other hand, is enjoying his first championship reign in WWE. He and Fandango are the current NXT Tag Team champions. WWE is yet to confirm if Team Breezango is going to face anyone on next week’s NXT.

Why was Orange Cassidy picked as Jericho’s opponent?

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Chris Jericho revealed why he chose Cassidy out of all people. They fought in a never before seen Mimosa Mayhem match at AEW All Out.

“I thought, let’s put him in one and see a side of Orange Cassidy, a violent side, that we’ve never seen before. Let’s see the Orange Cassidy that cuts a great promo and see how he does in an extended program. I believe we started this the week after Stadium Stampede, so it’s close to 14 weeks for this program.”

Jericho always wanted him to be a main-event guy and the face of the company, “Orange Cassidy brings a lot to the table, and my goal is to show him in a different light and launch this guy into becoming a main-event guy, which we need to keep doing in AEW, and it’s what we’ve been doing all along.”

Hopefully, in the future, we will see matches between Tyler Breeze and Orange Cassidy, as well as many other dream inter-promotional contests.
