Is WWE's interest in Ricky Starks a sign that AEW is producing better talent?

Where exactly is Ricky Starks? Will he ever come back to AEW? Wrestling fans remain in the dark about Starks’ future despite his status as a marquee superstar in the industry. Starks abruptly disappeared off AEW TV in March. However, this prolonged absence has helped Starks greatly as the buzz surrounding him has fuelled rumors of WWE signing the young wrestler.

Yes, you heard it exactly right, as new reports suggest that WWE could recruit some new wrestlers. Perhaps, they are hopeful of luring a top star to their promotion while weakening their rivals. Hence, rumors have swirled over the prospect of the Stamford-based promotion signing some AEW talents.

PwInsider reported this information, stating that WWE is trying to recruit AEW wrestlers who have been absent from television or whose contracts are about to expire. In addition to Ricky Starks, WWE is keeping tabs on Daniel Garcia, the Lucha Brothers, and others. The report stated, Numerous sources within WWE stated there is “certainly interest” in a number of #AEW stars whose deals are close to expiring, or have been off TV for some time. The AEW star enjoys a fruitful bond with several WWE stars. The former FTW champion even accompanied Cody Rhodes before he made his fabled appearance at the 2023 Royal Rumble and won the match. Despite citing the appearance as a way of supporting his friend, rumors of WWE trying to recruit him made its debut then. Starks even met a prominent WWE superstar lately in a bid to maintain his fitness. Or at least that was the explanation given.

As we all know, if the above-mentioned report is genuine, WWE would have recently approached Starks. If this happened, then Starks’ meeting with current WWE Superstar Jade Cargill might have been a clue to the fans. The WWE Universe was not convinced at that time that the meeting was just a union of two old friends. They cited other prospective reasons although speculation fizzled out due to the absence of a basis. However, if the recent report is genuine, then the wrestling faithful were right in digging up reasons for Starks meeting the WWE star.
