According to recent reports, WrestleMania 40’s ticket sale last Friday was a huge success. After the wrestling company was done promoting the live sale that was going to happen in Philadelphia, it looks like the fans caught on. This is because when the 18th of August arrived, the company had the biggest sale in its history. WrestleManias are historically known to break records because of how big the events are. However, the 40th edition sets a new milestone altogether.

WrestleMania 39 was the biggest WM when the tickets sold. The gross collection of the PLE was $21.6 Million. However, the upcoming event has surpassed its predecessor. WrestleMania 40 has sold over 90,000 tickets in one day, being the biggest gate opening for any of WWE’s events, including all past WMs too.

Looking over at their direct competitor’s biggest PPV, AEW’s ‘All In’ 2023- which is scheduled to take place on August 27 at the Wembley Stadium in the UK- has sold just over 80,000 tickets in total after all these months.

This is not the first time that WWE gave a check-mate to Tony Khan‘s AEW ‘All In’ PPV this year. In fact, even before WM 40 ticket sale was live, they did so with another one of their PLEs.

WWE leaves AEW behind twice in a row

The first instance this year was when WWE was directly competing against AEW’s ticket sale for their upcoming show at the iconic Wembley Stadium. While Khan’s company was working to get the most ‘pre registrations’ for their biggest annual event ever, the Stamford-based company casually left them behind when they went live to sell tickets for ‘SummerSlam’.

Considering that SummerSlam wasn’t even the biggest show of the wrestling company and still they left behind AEW’s pre-registration was enough of a flex. Even though now ‘All In’ has sold double the amount of tickets than WWE’s SummerSlam, it was left behind again because of the incident in Philly.
