Over the past years, WWE has had many other rival promotions. But they were never able to overpower the Stanford-based promotion. However, with the rise of AEW, fans have been thinking that to some extent, the 4-year-old promotion has been giving a fight to WWE. Even though it is not as big as WWE, AEW has had pretty decent events in the past with their 2023 PPV All-In being acknowledged by fans. Even though the roster is not as big as WWE, the pro wrestlers at AEW have been entertaining the fans and the fans believe that there is something fresh to see at AEW.
Recently, a WWE Hall of Famer and decorated veteran from WWE talked about his recent experience with WWE and why he is in favor of the other promotion.

Recently on his podcast 1 of a Kind, decorated WWE star Rob Van Dam shared his latest experience with the two promotions. Even though he did not reveal any names, the hints he gave were pretty self-explanatory. He said, “I got a phone call. I picked up because it was from the big company, and had a little talk, and got officially unbooked from Philly”. RVD further added, “About 30 minutes later, I got another message. Got officially rebooked in Philly from another company”.
He then said that he was surprised, but knew that it was all a part of the universe’s grand scheme. Further on, talking about being rebooked, he said, “In the meantime, I’m just reading letters. ‘A. E.’”, subtly hinting at the company that rebooked him.
He said things happened so fast that he did not have the time to process the first message. The Hall of Famer further explained the reason why things happened so quickly. He said that someone was trying to do “damage repair” for him. The said person got to work as soon as that person got to know about RVD being unbooked. “Someone inside working on trying to do some damage repair. And then I got people on Twitter saying, ‘Let’s pass this around, man. We need RVD rebooked’.”
The 52-year-old star then said that it doesn’t really matter to him. “It is the same city, just different dates”. But he said one thing in particular, “The one is becoming more and more valuable than the other one to me each time, anyway,” hinting at how WWE has let him down on several occasions.

Even though he was unbooked by a ‘major’ company, he was rebooked in 30 minutes by AEW. He is all set to appear at AEW Rampage at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. Even though he was booked on such short notice, an old friend is waiting for him.
RVD’s ‘young’ old friend
On the October 25th episode of AEW Rampage, the veteran will be joining forces with some young blood. He will once again team up with Hook to fight against Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds. However, this was not the first time they had teamed up. On the September 29th episode of Collision, RVD teamed up with Hook for the first time. They had a tag team battle against Matt Menard and Angelo Parker. But more than coming to AEW, teaming up with Hook happened to be a special experience for him.

Hook is the son of former WWE star Peter Senerchia, known by his ring name Tazz. Due to this connection, the match was even special for the fans as they felt nostalgic. Apart from that, a fun fact that blew everyone’s mind was that the bout had taken place in Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. It happened to be the same arena where RVD and Taz had a tag team match almost 25 years ago. Even though his appearance was teased out of the blue, fans still enjoyed his fight.
