For a few weeks now, it has been public knowledge that Daniel Garcia’s contract with AEW expires in a few months, specifically in October. He is currently absent from All Elite Wrestling’s weekly schedule after taking a beating from MJF, but this is really because the company is waiting for Garcia to decide his future.
Dave Meltzer commented in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that the feeling in AEW is that Daniel Garcia is going to renew with the company and will return to enter a feud with MJF. However, Garcia has also shown an interest in being a part of the WWE. Something that would be a nightmare for AEW fans, as Garcia isn’t the only one planning to leave the promotion.
Recently, there has been a lot of talk about Ricky Starks, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Rey Fenix also joining the Stamford-based promotion. So why are so many All Elite superstars leaving the Tony Khan-led promotion to be a part of Triple H’s WWE? Well, let’s find out the answer to this question, shall we?

Why the mass exodus in All Elite Wrestling?
AEW’s poor booking
Tony Khan‘s booking in AEW has been questionable, to say the least. Pro wrestling veterans such as Eric Bischoff have gone as far as claiming that even a monkey can be a better booker than Tony Khan. AEW spends around $104 million on talent every year, which is certainly a lot. So a major part of the criticism leans towards Tony Khan’s hiring decisions.

Have an interesting take?
Many wrestlers earn substantial sums of money but rarely appear on television. The other problem is giving them creative control. Mercedes Mone recently revealed that the AEW head honcho has granted her creative control, something that has been heavily criticized as it allowed Mone to deliver more promos despite being less than stellar on the mic.
This was something that the WWE handled fairly well by limiting her promos. With top stars either booking unnecessary promos or hogging all the limelight, it does not allow the mid-carders to get the opportunity they deserve. Especially when talents such as Lexis King and Ethan Page are flourishing in NXT. So this is a major reason some AEW stars are leaving the promotion.
Lesser backstage conflicts
The WWE is known for being a relatively safer space in terms of backstage conflicts. In fact, they also had the Wrestler’s Court as a way for two guys to settle any beef that they may have with each other. The recent Britt Baker suspension and the Jack Perry-CM Punk feud have surely provided the promotion with a poor reputation.

Some critics claim that Tony Khan is extremely insecure and very emotionally immature. While ex-AEW superstars claim that the problem with Tony Khan is that he tries to be everyone’s friend rather than a boss. But at times, the company surely needs an authority figure to pave the way forward.
A larger fan base and money

Well, that’s obvious. The Stamford-based promotion is much larger than All Elite Wrestling. Thus providing superstars with the opportunity to reach superstardom by being exposed to a much larger audience. The fact that the WWE also offers enormous sums to be a part of their roster surely is a huge motivation factor.
