Wrestling fans admire a good heel faction. Groups such as the loudmouth Degeneration X or The mystical Ministry of Darkness mastered by The Undertaker still remain fresh in fans’ minds. These factions constantly defied the authority figures and wreaked havoc in their wake. The audience was particularly fond of their unapologetic nature and mysterious actions.
And one such faction entered the WWE Universe in style in 2012. The Shield, comprising three upshots Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose, took the promotion by storm. And forced the world to take notice of their tremendous potential. The notorious faction would go on to decimate every legend or superstar that came in their path.

Their high-profile victim list ranged from The Rock, Mick Foley, Randy Orton, and John Cena to name a few. The trio looked unfazed against some of the most established names and held their own.
The group would go on a devastating run
The group would continue to thrive and win the Tag Team Championships on three occasions. Until they disbanded in 2014 due to a kayfabe betrayal by Rollins. However, all three continued competing in the singles competitions for the next few years.
This changed in 2019 however as Dean Ambrose moved on to pastures new. He joined the rival promotion AEW and is the current AEW Champion under the Jon Moxley moniker. Rollins and Reigns haven’t been any strangers to success either. They are the current incumbents of the US title and the WWE Universal title, respectively.
Fans react to recent footage of the trio destroying The Undertaker
WWE posted a throwback video from 2013 recently on their social media page. The video showed footage of The Shield’s attack on The Undertaker, slamming him through an announce table. the social media page did tag the current WWE superstars Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
However, they did not tag Dean Ambrose aka Jon Moxley for understandable reasons. The tweet read, “The Shield sent a message to all of WWE when they took out The @undertaker in 2013!” @WWERollins @WWERomanReigns.”

The Shield’s dominance from the past still seems to catch the fans’ attention. As is evident by the fans’ response to past footage of the group. The group will forever have a place in the wrestling folklore for the sheer impact they created. Fans might want to remain oblivious to the reality. But not tagging the face of a rival faction does make a lot of sense from WWE’s perspective.
