Did Mariah May's mom deserve that slap at AEW All In, or was it totally uncalled for?

Mariah May is an excellent heel, and her actions consistently demonstrate this. We may use the recent incident she had on the AEW All-In to demonstrate how far she can go as a heel. If you don’t know, Mariah May smacked her own mother, who was in the front row of the crowd to encourage her, during her big match at the event.

The AEW star startled everyone when this happened since she had earlier conveyed how close she was to her mother. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, she also boasted that her mother would be in attendance at the event, which meant a lot to her.

May stated, “My mother will be there at All In. She’ll watch me from the front row as I destroy what’s left of Toni Storm.” Despite the female star’s strong feelings for her mother, it appears that all of this was for naught because she was only concerned with winning the AEW Women’s Championship.

As you all know, Mariah May turned on Toni Storm. However, the buildup to what should have been a deeply personal feud did not live up to expectations. The Florida-based promotion had carved out the perfect scenario to build on a storyline that was months in the making. Nevertheless, the fans were not treated to the reason as to why May turned on Storm. Fans were unsure if AEW intended to portray the new champion’s increasingly fickle nature or to offer sympathy to May who resorted to drastic means to inflict damage on Toni Storm.

The following week, May’s promo did not garner a strong reaction from the crowd and was met with apathy. Renowned wrestling insider Dave Meltzer also had the same concerns. “She had nothing to say, I thought there would be this great explanation, she hit the basic stuff but it was only the basic stuff. I don’t think that it was strong enough. The crowd didn’t do her any favors, but I don’t think the promo did her any favors either.”

Nevertheless, we step forward onto new beginnings with Mariah May as a champion. It remains to be seen how her vicious heel nature enhances her title reign. What are your thoughts about May attacking her own mother at All In? Tell us in the comments.
