Injuries are one of the job hazards of a wrestler’s life. It has forced several legends to take long breaks- as is the case of WWE icon Randy Orton– and even truncated their careers- similar to what happened to WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin. Even while performing the stunts or moves with the utmost control, injuries creep in, now imagine what can happen if a wrestler appears reckless. A recent spot from AEW has raised concerns among fans and an industry veteran after a 25-year-old took a nasty bump during his match.

Dutch Mantell advises AEW star against reckless moves

WWE veteran Dutch Mantell, who appeared in Vince McMahon’s company as Zeb Colter was unimpressed by a move involving AEW stars Rush and Jungle Boy Jack Perry. Sharing a visual of the spot, the 73-year-old former WWE star advised Perry against performing such moves. It showed Rush throwing the former AEW World Tag Team Champion on the floor from the ring apron with a belly-to-belly suplex.

The bump was brutal, and it needed officials to check in on the 25-year-old, who later won the match.

Mantell hailed the move but added that such maneuvers last in the fans’ minds for a few minutes while it can leave a wrestler with a damaged physique. His post on Twitter attracted several comments from fans, who agreed with the veteran.

One user commented that Jungle Boy was a few inches away from a life-altering injury.

Another said seeing it, they felt hurt.

Others also pitched in with their concerns.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old recently spoke about his evolving career in pro wrestling, addressing a longstanding issue.

Jungle Boy shares his take on MJF and wrestling promos

Having good promo skills can elevate a wrestler to greater heights. Take the example of any great wrestlers and irrespective of their wrestling style, they all have one common quality- great mic skills. Current AEW champion MJF is often lauded for his ability to cut great promos. In a chat with What Culture, Perry shared his views on the champion and his promo-cutting skills.

During his initial run in AEW, Perry was known as a talent who was reluctant to use the mic. This admittedly brought his flak from several corners. While he said he’s willing to improve, he isn’t going to go down the MJF path.

“The promos, I got a lot of flack in the beginning when I said I want to run away when they make me do it. People thought that was a literal thing. It’s an expression. It’s not my favorite thing to do. I’m never going to be like MJF and show up and request 30 minutes to go out there and blabber on,” he said.

Let’s hope he cuts great promos and keeps it original, otherwise, fans might come down hard again, as they did during his match at AEW Revolution 2023.
