This year saw many WWE PLE events take place out of the usual American land. Backlash in Puerto Rico and Money in the Bank in London got international fans jumping in their seats. One thing to come out of the London PLE was the British wrestling chants, which irritated the heck out of Roman Reigns.
During his tag titles bout with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, the live fans bombarded Reigns with chants. The unique way of showing their hate for Reigns also got the Tribal Chief calling London, “England, the worst, the dumbest place of all time, bunch of idiots.” But it looks like an ex-WWE talent is following his path as her current company, AEW, goes to Wembley for their biggest event.

Sitting down with The Daily Star, Toni Storm, former 2-time AEW Women’s Champion, talked about her upcoming match in London. Having worked in the country for a long time, this seemed like a homecoming for the New Zealand star. But the situation is completely different, as she detailed in her interview.
She vehemently denied any joy at going back to London. Instead, she said, “The only reason I’d be excited about seeing all those fans again is I get to rub it in their faces how successful I am. The only thing motivating is my excitement to really show off just how great I have become and denounce my British citizenship at Wembley Stadium – I can’t think of a better place.”
But you might be wondering why is it a big deal for Storm to wrestle in London. Well, she has an extensive history in the city that goes back all the way back to 2015.

Toni Storm’s storied history with London
When she first started wrestling, the young Storm performed in the WWE Tryouts for Melbourne, but she was unlucky. Despite that, the New Zealand-Australian shifted cities and entered Progress Wrestling. The British wrestling promotion gave her a great platform to display her skills, finally getting the WWE contract she wanted in the first place.
She spent 3 years in Progress Wrestling as well as being the face of NXT UK for more than 200 days. Even though WWE didn’t work out for her, she learned a lotion the company. With more than 4 years in the country, Storm’s British fans were excited to see her return to the British ring. But she’s more concerned about displaying her success to the fans than giving them a grand performance.
