After WCW, AEW has been by far WWE’s most serious competitor. However, the Jacksonville-based company is still in its nascent stages. While WWE has massive global appeal, AEW is steadily progressing. As AEW: Dynamite celebrates its 200th episode, Tony Khan expressed his desire to see AEW content on a major streaming platform.

AEW was formed in 2019. After building a strong foundation by recruiting exceptional talents, Tony Khan expanded his empire by acquiring Ring Of Honor. And so, along with AEW content, a library of ROH videos is also a precious resource. Hence, Khan recently relayed his dream to see AEW land on HBO’s Max.

While speaking with PWInsider, Tony Khan expressed his aspirations for AEW’s library of content to be available on HBO Max. Notably, HBO Max already streams AEW’s reality show, All Access. Khan is positive that AEW has the “bones” to be a strong addition to any streaming platform. However, he wishes it lands on HBO’s Max.

He said, “We have all the bones for a really strong streaming platform. It would be a very strong addition to any streaming platform, and my dream is that it all lands on Max. It would be tremendous. Right now, AEW All Access is available on Max, which is very cool, and hopefully, that is a step in the right direction, getting our stuff steaming. We have a great library.”

Furthermore, Tony Khan relayed that he has thousands of hours of valuable wrestling content. The AEW president is also optimistic that the streaming service will eventually happen. However, the decision will largely be influenced by Warner Bros., which has a major skin in the game.

AEW archived videos are currently available globally via FITE. On the other hand, the Ring of Honor content is accessible on HonorClub. But Khan is hopeful about finding an exclusive AEW streaming platform at some point down the line.

While AEW may be considered secondary compared to WWE, Tony Khan holds a contrasting perspective on his company. In fact, he recently took a subtle dig at Triple H for referring to AEW as a “secondary company”.

Tony Khan says AEW is not secondary to WWE

In the documentary “American Nightmare” on Peacock, Triple H subtly referenced AEW by suggesting that Cody Rhodes’ aspirations extended beyond merely securing a World Title within a “secondary company.”

Taking umbrage, Tony Khan told Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel that AEW is not secondary in the market. According to him, they are well-established in The UK. He said, “We certainly won’t be the secondary promotion at All In. We’re No. 1 in the UK, on TV, and with a record gate. I have a lot of respect for Cody. I know these weren’t his words, to be fair, but we’re not secondary in a lot of markets — for the first time in a long time, WWE has been secondary in a lot of markets.

Given that AEW sold over 70,000 tickets for its upcoming “All In” event at London’s Wembley Stadium without revealing its match card, the show is bound to be a huge success.
