Vince McMahon‘s nature as a demanding boss is well-known in wrestling circles. McMahon has had his fair share of ups and downs with many of his co-workers over the years. Not only this McMahon had a long unpleasant series of events with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross. From forcing him to join the infamous Kiss My A** club to splashing barbecue sauce on him, Vince didn’t leave any single chance of humiliating one of the greatest announcers in WWE’s history.

He also fired Ross multiple times for petty reasons. McMahon’s ways of working ultimately resulted in JR’s final retirement from the company back in 2013.

Several years passed and Ross has been doing very well in AEW at the present time, but it seems like he is still processing the trauma of being at Vince’s gunpoint during his WWE days. While McMahon casually draws his satisfaction from embarrassing others without any proper reason, Ross recalled one particular medical condition of his that genuinely enraged the former during a Premium live event.

Jim Ross once fell victim to McMahon’s wrath

Jim Ross became the voice of the company during the Attitude Era, providing on-point commentary of numerous high-profile matches by the allied forces of his unique stances and soothing tone. But at one point in his career, the hardcore professional fell short to deliver up to the expectation as his voice unexpectedly went mute. He could do nothing about it after every possible remedy failed to work out.

It’s needless to mention that offered a valid enough ground to McMahon, who was enraged. Speaking in the latest episode of the Grilling JR podcast, the Hall of the Famer noted, ‘lost my voice. One time in my career.. and that was in WWE. and it was after a pay-per-view event. I just…it was gone. No matter how much hot water I drank or hot tea or what it didn’t work, I know Vince got really p****d off at me cause my voice was bad like I was at fault, yeah. So it’s a little frustrating.’

JR further noted that he however had enough luck throughout his career to never fall into the same situation twice. With that being said, he got an issue with his voice again in 2021 in the AEW commentary box.

Jim Ros faced an issue regarding his voice in AEW

Ross has been a fundamental figure in Tony Khan’s promotion from the very start. His phenomenal voice has been so perfectly synchronized with fans’ ears that they are pretty quick to find out any slightest change in that. That’s what happened during AEW Revolution in 2021 when fans wondered what was wrong with the world-famous voice as it sounded a bit stiff and harsh than usual.

JR himself pointed out the oddity and made a sincere apology to the fans for the unwanted hiccup. He also promised them to make the rest of the night best as per his ability.

The 71-year-old is still going strong with AEW, not stepping back from his promise to the fans to deliver the best work.
