Former WWE Superstars who left the company under controversial circumstances have never backed away from calling out WWE. One such former Superstar is CM Punk, and he’s been taking shots at WWE, until he didn’t when it came to John Cena.

As seen in a YouTube video, Punk remembers the time he spoke to James Gunn about Cena. Upon hearing Gunn’s words, he had nothing but praise for The Champ.

“I read James Gunn said something like John Cena is the best improv actor he’s worked with. That does not surprise me in the least. You know, we do it every week, for decades. Not surprised John’s killing it.”

To be honest, Punk isn’t wrong. Pro-wrestlers have to play a certain character whenever they cut promos or are in the ring or in front of the camera. These characters are often very different from who they are in real-life.

Additionally, cutting a good promo means having good acting skills, excellent mic work, fantastic memory, and supreme confidence in front of the camera and a huge crowd. Considering Cena has cut mind-blowing promos throughout his pro-wrestling career, it’s not at all surprising that he’s good at acting.

Coming to being the best at improv, WWE shows do not have retakes like Hollywood movies. If a Superstar forgets a line, they need to come up with a new line on the spot. They need to continue the promo and add sentences that ultimately allow their rivals to give the scripted answer. It’s not easy being a pro-wrestler!
