There have been various rumors regarding Drew McIntyre‘s dissatisfaction with the WWE in the past. Although the Scot has been working in the leading wrestling promotion for a long time, he hasn’t had big achievements like many other stars who have been around in the WWE for a similar amount of time.

McIntyre was given two shots at the World Heavyweight Championship this year alone. However, he wasn’t satisfied and at one point, the rumors were rife that he had threatened the management about quitting WWE. Now fresh rumors suggest that the 39-year-old was offered a high-paying contract by Tony Khan.

Even last year, there were reports about how McIntyre’s contract was coming to an end following WrestleMania 39. The negotiations were failing because of the money the superstar was demanding and how much WWE was offering instead. While he ended up re-signing, Ryback‘s informant recently revealed that he was rumored to have received a great offer from the AEW president.

I think they [WWE] probably offered him maybe $3 Million to stay and then it caught up to 4 because I think Tony would have paid Drew $4 million and worked at a living arrangement if he wanted to,” the informant revealed.

This rumor amidst the ‘quitting’ storyline is alarming because it could have been McIntyre’s way out of the promotion if the informant’s sources were correct, but now that he has re-signed with the Stamford-based company, the promotion may build him up for another shot at the title.

What’s McIntyre’s future in WWE?

Drew McIntyre didn’t ultimately leave the promotion. And by the looks of it, he may be staying for another year at least, depending on the tenure of his contract. However, it seems like he is going to stay a bit busy for the upcoming few weeks. CM Punk was supposed to be cleared for in-ring action when he showed up in Chicago on Friday Night SmackDown, but things turned upside down when McIntyre beat him up mercilessly.

There’s a possibility that WWE is just teasing the fans and CM Punk will be back in no time. Whenever he gets cleared to wrestle, we may see the top-tier talent feuding with Drew McIntyre for a while. After they are done with each other, the wrestling company could push McIntyre for a title again and this time they will probably give him a title run longer than just a few minutes.
