Is Tony Khan's behavior jeopardizing AEW's future with Warner Bros. Discovery? What's your take?

AEW is well-known for pushing the envelope when it comes to violence and gore. However, it appears that this brutality has cost them big time recently. As we all know, Tony Khan sought a new media agreement with WBD to increase their revenue. Talks between the two entities progressed well but no agreement was reached. Now, Warner Bros. Discover’s exclusive negotiating window with AEW recently concluded. This means that Khan is free to engage in talks with other suitors despite praising WBD management for their strong relationship. So why did the deal with the media giant lapse? The explanation for this appears to be clear today.

Wrestling veteran Konnan recently appeared on the Keepin’ It 100 Official YouTube channel. He explained the possible reason for WBD not inking a deal with the Florida-based promotion yet. The wrestling veteran emphasized the notion that AEW has always been an edgy product. However, at this point during a major deal, they should have made the product less edgy. This will appeal to the media company since they would want individuals of all ages to be watching the show.

Tony Khan did not follow this concur with this strategy and instead paved his own path. Increased frequency of expletives, more blood, etc in recent weeks highlights the new strategy of AEW. This emerges as the most common rationale for the lull in talks. Konnan stated in the YouTube video, “This is my final point of thought is the fact that they’ve they’ve done foolish things. Okay. In the middle of like during this process training a new TV rights deal, like a lot of foul language and a lot of blood and gore. Okay. And a lot of gratuitous violence on that show.”

The other host added, “Or like how many times did they show somebody blading, bro?”  Nevertheless, all is not lost for the AEW head honcho as he could rake in a lucrative sum by recruiting a figure fundamental to the WWE.
