Tony Khan's booking of Swerve Strickland: Genius move or a recipe for disaster?

A few days ago, Swerve Strickland successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Will Ospreay. This was the first time Strickland had put gold on the line in the main event of a pay-per-view since winning it. So it was truly a special one for him. Rumors had circulated that Strickland was simply a transition champion until Ospreay snatched it from him at the PPV in front of the public of his native country. However, that is not the reality of the situation.

And it was none other than Will Ospreay, who wanted the match between the two to take place at the Forbidden Door. All in a move to end the topic of conversation about Swerve’s reign and that he would only be champion until Ospreay won it in All In. The two have been friends for years, and the British fighter was looking to set an example that if you want AEW to be a successful company, there must be a team effort.

However, the same cannot be said about Tony Khan‘s treatment of the AEW World Champion. Some fans believe that he is not being treated as a top-level draw and is used like any other member of the roster. They compared his situation to that of TNA’s Moose. The TNA star has received the treatment of a king and is given a throne to sit on when he appears. But it seems like Moose has a different outlook on it as he shares his thoughts on AEW’s treatment of Strickland.

Recently on Twitter, a user by the name of @Defiant4441X shared their thoughts on AEW’s treatment of Strickland when compared to the royal treatment that TNA’s Moose gets. As the TNA Champion is actually made to look like one. They wrote, “TNA makes their world champion Moose look more like a megastar than AEW does with Swerve. TNA is the real alternative in professional wrestling.”

But it seems like the tweet has caught the attention of the TNA star. He came up with a reply in which he defended the Tony Khan-led promotion by asking fans not to compare him with Strickland.

Moose defends Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling

Moose revealed that the AEW World Champion is a friend of his, and they often talk and debate about wrestling. He also reiterated the fact that they are both megastars, no matter what. He tweeted, “No need to compare it just enjoy it…… Swerve and I are friends and have debated about wrestling in different magnitudes. We have similar goals but different Practices and Journeys we are both Megastars”

Tony Khan's booking of Swerve Strickland: Genius move or a recipe for disaster?

Have an interesting take?

And while it is true that Strickland should get something special like MJF got his throne when he enters big events as the Devil, AEW may be offering other backstage perks as the WWE does. It is a backstage secret that if one becomes a top-level champion in the WWE by becoming either the Universal Champion or the Heavyweight Champion; they get to travel first class. If first-class seats aren’t available, then two normal-class plane seats are bought by the Stamford-based promotion for the wrestler. This might be the real reason behind the tears of Rollins when he lost the title at WrestleMania. What do you think? Should Strickland get a more royal, in-your-face gimmick? Let us know in the comments.
