No matter what the situation calls for, Tony Khan keeps on touting his prowess showing off the inflated AEW’s television ratings. The current ratings dump of AEW Dynamite has been a recurring theme of discussion. However, it appeared that despite last week’s Dynamite amassing an enormous drop by 700K ratings, the AEW head honcho got a thing to hype it up, regardless. But if you check the legitimacy factor here, a major loophole has loomed large in a recent report.
Khan has been on the other side of the success when it comes to a good rating for a while. Despite adopting a few different strategies and bringing in a lot of faces into the roster in the last few months, he couldn’t overcome the hurdle, i.e. poor ratings.

As per the report of PWTorch, the July 3 episode of AEW Dynamite grabbed a viewership of 688,000 viewers and a 0.23 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic. These numbers are a bit higher (1% in overall audience, nearly 5% in the demo) from the previous week. Given how Tony Khan hyped it up beforehand, noting it would be one of the best episodes of television the company has ever seen featuring top faces like MJF & Will Ospreay along with Mercedes Moné & Britt Baker, the outcome wasn’t satisfactory at all.
Dynamite’s performance overall remained constant for all four weeks. Amidst all these ongoing setbacks, Khan bragged on Twitter about it being the no 1 in viewers for the 18-34 category. Adding to that, he noted, that this is the first time AEW has done this in almost 250 episodes of television.
But to contradict this claim, other data from Nielsen data showed otherwise. The parameters seem rather down than when compared to previous weeks.
Adjusting for TBS’s decline in households, AEW Dynamite viewership is still down, according to Nielsen data we obtained.

Konnan recently revealed that discord between him and Khan came to the surface after the AEW president pulled Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo from AAA Nocho de Campeones in late 2022. According to Konnan, Khan pulled the pair from the show after another wrestler on the AEW roster got COVID, wanting Melo as an alternative. Konnan said he couldn’t get alongside a bunch of women on the AEW roster andMelo was chosen to be used as the replacement. He then addressed the alienated wrestler with COVID as ‘some chick.’ While Konnan did it to avoid disclosing his name publicly, Khan took it as an offense and called him out for the same.
