AEW is currently on a roll as they recently celebrated the 200th episode of their televised show ‘Dynamite’. The entire AEW roster came out to celebrate the success and also thank Tony Khan and the management for the opportunity. AEW Champion MJF also kept his differences aside and called Khan a “visionary” for taking the company forward in spite of stiff competition.
But as one group seems to be burying the hatchet, another just doesn’t want to make any amends. We are talking about the animosity between CM Punk and ‘The Elite’.

What appears on screen is not always the case offscreen. The same holds true for pro wrestling as well. The same wrestlers who appear all hunky-dory on screen and in the ring might actually be at loggerheads with each other in real life. The same holds true for The Elite and Cm Punk.
CM Punk made his return to AEW in June on their newly televised show ‘Collision’ which airs on Saturday. And has since then been helping the show garner strong ratings. But as everything seems to be going great on the professional front, there is still friction between CM Punk and The Elite as reported by Dave Meltzer. ‘The Elite’ just signed new “multi-year” deals with AEW. But in spite of that, nothing has changed the situation between CM Punk and ‘The Elite’.

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer said, “Even with the signing, there do remain significant behind-the-scenes issues that haven’t been settled, between them and C.M. Punk, which keeps Tony Khan having to do a balancing act.”
So in addition to handling the entire programming of AEW, Tony Khan has to also make sure that both these sides don’t get into any kind of physical trouble as they did at ‘All Out’.
CM Punk and The Elite had a brutal backstage brawl post the press conference at ‘All Out’
It all started at ‘Double or Nothing’ back in 2022. CM Punk and ‘The Elite’s’ Adam Page were supposed to fight it out at the main event. But Page said something very offensive in a promo which led to Punk rethinking his decision to wrestle Page at the main event.

Then at ‘All Out’ at the press conference post he called ‘The Elite’ “Irresponsible people who call themselves EVPs”. This was the final straw that led to a physical brawl post the conference between CM Punk and members of ‘The Elite’.

Later all those involved in the fight would be suspended and CM Punk was stripped of his AEW Championship. Hence in order to prevent such a calamity from occurring again, Tony Khan has to make sure that both sides keep a safe distance from each other both verbally and physically. But do you think ‘The Elite’ and CM Punk will ever bury the hatchet?
