Tony Khan continues landing on the receiving ends of netizens’ wrath trailing behind the rival promotion in the latest update of the viewership war. The AEW boss has worked tirelessly to make the promotion’s fifth anniversary special Double or Nothing 2024 PPV a grand success. Bigwigs such as Will Ospreay, Jon Moxley, Adam Copeland, Mercedes Mone, The Elite, etc will all lace up their wrestling boots to ensure that the event will be one for the ages. However, a comparative statistic between the AEW Dynamite Go Home episode and the latest NXT show airing on May 21st, came to the surface to hamper the festive mood.

WWE NXT hammers home the point that the future is female better than AEW Dynamite this week

Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California saw a star-studded Dynamite this week with several thrilling matches on the card. The AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm teamed up with Mariah May to take on the Outcasts consisting of Saraya and Harley Cameron. After both parties’ high-stake moves and countermoves, the match went in Storm and May’s favor. Although they had to receive the wrath of Deeb after the match went down, the amount of power and prowess the tag team showcased put the crowd on the edge of their seats.

Conversely, the WWE developmental brand pushed Jaida Parker one step ahead toward contending for the first-ever North American Women’s Champion title in the WWE NXT Battleground through an impressive win against Brinley Reece. Parker hit her iconic teardrop attack on her opponent to get to the top after a hard-hitting battle.

While technically judging the quality of both matches is a subjective thing to rely on, the audiences cast their votes through the visible gap in the viewership graph. While the NXT stars were able to pull in 692K eyeballs for their showdown, the victory segment of Storm and May stands sharp at 631K, making it the lowest quarter hour of the night.

However, the latest statistic is only the continuation of the persistent ratings struggle that Khan has had to ensure throughout the last couple of months.

The recent dismaying stats of AEW weekly shows: Recapped

Despite adding some high-voltage returns like Kenny Omega, pitching some explorative storyline with getting himself injured inside the ring for the very first time, Khan largely failed to gain traction. Evaluating the state of the business, Bully Ray reflected on how Dynamite has been moving on a visibly underwhelming note for the majority of the year 2024. The humiliating lowest mark that the May 15th episode of Dynamite scored spoke of the declining flagship series pretty clearly. Jim Ross recently pointed out the solution for it. He remarked that it was high time for AEW to bring new leading faces to the division.
