The world is very much aware of the backstage brawl that took place last year at the AEW post-All Out media scrum last year. CM Punk and The Elite were at the center of the matter. In front of the public, Punk chose to address his grievance with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. This led the two parties to have a legitimate fight backstage.
Both parties had to face indefinite suspension as repercussions. The Elite returned to AEW in November 2022, but Punk remained absent from the shows. Now ‘The Best in the World’ is returning to AEW on June 17 after nine months. Just hours before his grand return on Collison, he talked about this infamous incident and why it became a huge controversy.
It has been exacerbated, says CM Punk

While speaking to ESPN, Punk said that he doesn’t think his backstage drama with The Elite was as serious as the people have made it. He pointed out that in the sports business; it is common to have a spat now and then. He believes the incident became so notorious because certain people worsened the matter by spreading lies about him.
He said, “I don’t think what happened was a big deal… This has happened in the last 10 months in hockey, in basketball, in baseball, in just about every sport. And it’s covered, and it’s gone the next day.’
“I think because I have injured my tricep and I’ve been out for so long, I think it has been exacerbated. I think it’s been exacerbated by people spreading lies about the whole thing. And when, in reality, my attitude is, well, s— happens,” he added.

It was nothing but a normal incident for the former UFC fighter. Being a controversial star, he has dealt with such incidences in the past. That is why it was not a big deal for him. But unlike Punk, Omega had a completely different perspective on this matter.
Kenny Omega was not happy with what transpired
While speaking to The Sessions with Renee Paquette in March, Omega expressed shame over the fact of what happened at the AEW post-All Out media scrum in September 2022. He pointed out that no one was happy or proud of what took place that day. He believes it was a terrible situation that was completely unnecessary.
