Tony Khan isn’t able to get the viewership numbers to match the exciting debuts that AEW has to offer. His latest quality addition, Mercedes Mone, was seemingly unable to draw the desired rating with her blockbuster debut.

Just a day has passed since high voltage AEW Big Business went down to history with Mercedes Mone taking center stage at TD Garden Boston living up to the long-drawn out build. Samoa Joe defending his title against Wardlow was the perfect follow-up as well. But all of this did couldn’t draw a decent viewership figure. And in the words of Scott Steiner, the numbers spell disaster for Tony Khan at Sacrifice.

Mercedes Mone is quite a catch, and very few can cast doubt on her crowd-pulling ability. The CEO etched her name in the NJPW promotion after departing from WWE back in 2022. After a lot of teases and rumors, finally she declared herself All Elite with a warm reception from her home-grown crowd in Boston.

Mone’s return was an inevitable surprise, to say the least. Despite tons of direct hints, Khan refrained from officially letting the cat out of his bag. He probably did it to catch extra eyeballs. But in reality, it turned out to be a flop. As per the latest report, ‘#AEWDynamite ended up with 801K viewers (+3% from last week) with a 0.27 P18-49 rating (even).’

And to add to the misery, it also marked the ‘third-lowest’ ratings for the year so far.

But what does the AEW head honcho have in his mind to draw more wrestling fans to his product?

Tony Khan is eyeing a massive change in an upcoming PPV

Well, Khan is already eying another landmark business move for the improved overall functioning of his promotion.

Back in February, the AEW Boss was seemingly overjoyed at Rossy Ogawa’s termination from the Stardom president policy as he isn’t a fan of his working policy. On top of it, his recent picture with the new president Taro Okada created a stir in the community, which has finally been marked true by Dave Meltzer.

In the latest edition of his Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer revealed Khan is looking to add some wrestlers from Stardom and CMLL on the Forbidden Door card in 2024.

Only time will speak to Tony Khan’s plans for the future.
