AEW superstar Miro enjoyed a decade-long WWE run as Rusev, where he gained immense popularity despite his heel status. However, during his last days, WWE planned to utterly embarrass him.
During a recent edition of AEW Unrestricted, Miro discussed the original pitch for his last ‘sex addict’ storyline in WWE. To humiliate the star further, the creative team even wanted him to have erectile dysfunction.

“They wanted CJ to say that I’m a sex addict. But the original pitch was that I had erectile dysfunction. They really wanted to kill me completely. I don’t think in anybody’s eyes how the babyface has erectile dysfunction, and he’s somewhat of a good guy. You can’t prove that, and there’s nothing wrong with that….., but that was not the case here.”
Miro despised the new angle
The storyline completely devastated the ‘Bulgarian Brute‘. He even requested Vince to drop the angle. However, the boss paid no heed, but the angle was luckily never used.
“There was no coming back from it. There’s absolutely no coming back from it. And I told him, ‘Vince, this is gonna bury me completely.’ You already had the man that took my wife……. I just told him no, it’s a bad idea if we do the sex addict thing. So, he went for it right away. But thank god, thank god, I didn’t have erectile dysfunction as a character.”

The embarrassing storyline saw Rusev and his wife Lana’s marriage fall apart. Lana called out her husband for being a sex addict and promptly started an affair with Bobby Lashley. The new couple openly flaunted their relationship with some very public displays of affection, further humiliating the three-time United States champion.

Despite every humiliation he endured, the WWE released Rusev due to pandemic related budget cuts. Ever since then he has been very vocal about his unhappiness with the organization. Lana and Lashley are both in WWE, but they never crossed paths again.
Rusev now works as Miro in the rival-company AEW. He recently made a victorious in-ring debut in a tag match alongside Sabian against Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. He is much happier as Kip Sabian’s best man/AEW’s best man than he was in WWE.
