Paul Wight fka The Big Show in WWE turned the wrestling world upside down last week when the announcement of his AEW signing came out. No one could believe the news, not even WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. After all, WWE’s resident giant leaving was something never thought of.
Kurt Angle says he never thought the Big Show would leave WWE
The 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist recently talked about the Big Show leaving WWE on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show. Angle revealed that he always believed the Big Show would be in WWE for life. In fact, he also stated how Vince McMahon has supported the ‘World’s Largest Athlete’ in his tough times.

He said, “I always thought that Paul would be with the WWE for the rest of his life. I mean, they treat him really well. They did a lot for Big Show. You know, when he quit and went to be a boxer, he lost a bunch of money; Vince helped him out a little bit and got him back in the game.
“There are a lot of things that occurred that, you know, Vince McMahon showed his loyalty to Big Show, and Big Show showed it back, no doubt about it.” continued Angle.
Another reason Kurt Angle thought of Big Show being a WWE-lifer is his Netflix Show. Angle thought WWE produced the series, and that’d be enough for Show to stay with the company forever. But he was wrong!
Angle weighs in on the reason behind Big Show’s AEW signing
The ‘Olympic Hero’ also discussed a potential reason the Big Show left WWE. He cited the Giant may have felt underappreciated in the WWE over the past few years. Especially, with the kind of on-screen treatment he received.
Angle said, “They’ve had him, you know, they humbled him quite a bit, having his job out here and there, you know, tuck his tails between his legs and walk away. So, I understand why he was frustrated, but I thought he would be with the company forever, with the WWE. But you know what, if he is happy, I’m happy.” H/t Sportskeeda

Just as Angle said, if Paul Wight is happy, there is no reason for fans to be salty about it. The Big Show did everything possible in the WWE, and AEW must be that one door he wants to knock before calling it a career.
