Did Stephanie Vaquer make the right call choosing WWE over AEW? What’s your take?

Inarguably, one of the biggest talents available on the transfer market for the past few days has been Stephanie Vaquer. The Chilean wrestler officially left CMLL and NJPW, leaving her titles vacant in the promotions. Through an official statement, CMLL reported that Vaquer had decided not to continue in the company for “personal reasons,” which led many to think about an imminent jump to another promotion.

And then, on Wednesday, Shawn Michaels, WWE NXT brand director, put an end to ruminants. Confirming through social media that Vaquer is already part of the company’s roster. “Welcome to the WWE family, Stephanie Vaquer. See you in Orlando!” wrote Michaels. A decision that surely would’ve saddened the fans of All Elite Wrestling. Since they were all but sure that Vaquer would be a part of their roster soon. But why did she decide to join the WWE? Well, a female pro wrestling veteran has recently provided an update on that front.

She said, “And I think that’s one of the main reasons which I feel CMLO was upset about her decision. But at the end of the day, like she wanted to go to WWE. That was her dream, and the opportunity was open, and she took it, and she’s there, right? And, like, there’s nothing that anybody can do about it. Maybe the way that, you know, the other company went about it and signed her was not the right way, which I think that’s another criticism that they’re receiving. But at the end of the day, it was her decision to go and sign with this company.”

Vaquer was one of the biggest headliners of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door III. There she faced Mercedes Mone in a ‘Winner Takes All’ match. And her defeat meant not only the loss of the Japanese company’s title but also the proliferation of rumors that pointed to a possible arrival at AEW. However, in a turn of events, the wrestler finally opted for WWE. So, when can we expect the Chilean to make her debut? Well, it seems like we won’t have to wait for long.

It seems like the week is not over yet for the fighter. Through an official announcement, WWE has confirmed that Stephanie Vaquer will be part of the tour that the company will carry out in Mexico this weekend. Thus, the former World Champion will be present at the events that WWE will hold in Mexico City and Monterrey on July 13 and 14. At the moment, it is unknown if Vaquer will be a part of any matchups in these shows. In any case, her mere appearance will be her official debut in what has become her new home. We will have to see what the company has prepared for such an occasion.

But we can surely expect some major fireworks in the ring when she’s there. The wrestler has 15 years of experience in the business, the last two being the most successful of her professional career, combining her work in Mexico with appearances in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and STARDOM, where she won the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. So if she becomes a part of a match, she is surely set to steal the show! What do you think of this major signing? Did Vaquer make the right move? Let us know in the comments.
