In recent months, Ricky Starks has been in the spotlight on several occasions for his absence from AEW programming. Starks once commented that he would love to be back to contribute. It looked like lady luck had shone on Starks when Tony Khan also expressed his desire to have Starks on television again. However, time continues to pass and there is no trace of him in AEW.

At the end of last month, Ricky Starks once again became the center of attention in the community after he was accused of being part of a fight in Canada and rejecting all the creative plans that AEW had for his return to programming. If we add to this, his dissatisfaction with how his character was handled in 2023, the possibility of him coming to WWE has increased. One idea he rejected was to break his alliance with Big Bill by starting a rivalry between them.

The claim that “I did not even listen to these proposals” could not be confirmed. Starks has received criticism in AEW for this. Because, according to these people, the wrestler did not want to do business. Those involved in the story believed that this feud could have turned Big Bill into a great heel and Starks into a great babyface. However, Starks saw no benefit in Bill losing the feud to him and preferred an amicable separation.

Now, it seems like the frustration is boiling over as Starks might’ve hinted at his WWE signing in a recent social media post. Taking to his Instagram, he uploaded a story of him post-workout with the caption, “Control what you can control… and let’s speed up this part of life to the real good sh*t” The part about the ‘control’ could be about his aforementioned decision to decline the creative ideas pitched for him and control his own narrative.

The timing of the post is equally interesting as the WWE has just removed Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Tamina from their internal roster. Allowing WWE to possibly have the budget to offer Starks a great deal. But what’s stopping him from grasping his own destiny?

Could the Calgary incident be blamed?

A few months ago, an anonymous account on the Squared Circle subreddit of Reddit surprised many fans by revealing that Ricky Starks had been arrested last year after the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. This was major news as Starks was already getting notoriety because of his constant fiddling with AEW’s creative plans. However, Fightful Select added that numerous AEW people and Ricky Starks himself stated that he has never had legal problems in Canada.

So it seems like the Calgary incident is out of the way. But we still have to consider the fact that Starks has had creative differences with the Jacksonville-based promotion. Considering the great relationship that Ricky Starks has with Cody Rhodes, it would not be unreasonable to think that he ends up coming to WWE. However, because he is still under contract with AEW, it is unlikely to happen that quickly, at least this year. What do you think? Will Starks join the WWE? Let us know in the comments.
