Tony Khan has been the talk of the town lately due to his attempt to take on the pro wrestling community. A couple of days ago, the president of AEW was in the news for calling out WWE’s booking and the recently returned former champion, Jinder Mahal. Unfortunately, Khan ended up getting negative attention due to his social media posts. Apart from that, the latest episode of AEW Dynamite had to face the consequences of Khan’s tweets.
How Khan’s tweets affected AEW Dynamite’s viewership
As posted by Dave Meltzer on X (formerly Twitter), the latest edition of AEW Dynamite saw a dip in viewership. As mentioned by Meltzer, Dynamite ranked fourth on Wednesday. It was overtaken by the Republican State Debate and North Carolina vs NC State highlights. Meltzer believes that due to the Republican debate’s airing on television, AEW was not able to perform well.

AEW ended up fourth behind the Republican debate as well as the recap and NC vs. NC State. So the debate did very significant numbers.

According to reports, the total viewership of the latest Dynamite episode was 797,000. Compared to Jinder Mahal’s appearance on WWE Raw Day 1 Khan called out on social media, the viewership is almost 1/3rd of it. Another possibility for the Raw Day 1 episode to have such a high viewership could be due to the fact WWE had been creating hype for the episode.
The return of a former champion was teased by Triple H. Due to this, many viewers tuned in that night in hopes of catching a glimpse of the return of the former champion. And WWE did deliver on their promise. That night fans saw the return of not one, but two champions. Along with Mahal, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also returned.
While AEW Dynamite’s viewership plummeted this week, fans decided to barge in on social media to take a hilarious jab at Tony Khan.
Fans troll Tony Khan
As the news of low viewership broke, fans decided to take to social media to troll Khan after Tuesday’s incident. One fan thought it would be a good idea if someone could confiscate Khan’s phone and his book.
Someone needs to take his phone away. And the book.

A fan highlighted the fact that due to his online actions, Khan has been driving fans away from the promotion. On top of that, the fan believes that Khan is not aware of it. The fan gave their example of how their perspective regarding AEW has changed due to Khan’s actions, going so far as to call him “an embarrassment”.
Tony is running more and more people off week on week and he's not self aware enough to see it. I was so pro AEW right up until 2022/23. He's an embarrassment and the product is incredibly stale now because of his booking. So sad.

One fan decided to mention that AEW is good at stirring up some controversy. Unfortunately, the promotion does that outside the ring instead of in the ring. The fan believes that this is something that has been hurting AEW in the long run.
It’s funny how AEW is great at creating controversy the wrong way. Ideally you create the controversy in the show to make it more exciting. But they do it off the show, which ends up hurting them in the long run.
