CM Punk and Cody Rhodes‘ feud started right before the former’s first PLE match in WWE ever since his big return. The basis of this rivalry was the fact that both of these wrestlers grew up differently and Punk believed himself to be superior because he was a ‘self-made’ star. Although Rhodes proved him wrong at Royal Rumble 2024, they are not very different.
According to WWE veterans, CM Punk and Rhodes have similarities. While they may react differently to situations, they are not miles apart as people. This opinion comes from co-hosts of the Busted Open Podcast.

Both CM Punk and Cody Rhodes joined AEW at different times and also left the Jacksonville-based promotion under varying circumstances. However, Bully Ray thinks that both of them had a similar sense of the future during their tenure as members of the All Elite roster. On Busted Open Podcast, Ray said, “CM Punk saw the exact same writing on the wall that Cody Rhodes saw. He just handled it differently.” Mark Henry added, “Yeah, Cody is more of a politician. He’s more polished. His daddy taught him different.”
According to Bully Ray, both the stars had come to know that AEW wasn’t doing well without their presence on the shows. This is the similarity that not everyone would expect them to have, even though they handled it differently when confronted with the truth.

Cody Rhodes somewhat copied CM Punk in WWE promo
CM Punk’s wife AJ Lee was featured alongside her husband in the 2019 film, Rabid. The couple is in a scene together where Lee is ‘infected’ and Punk is drunk. Disoriented, he allows his real-life wife to enter his car in a scene. The two start getting intimate, but what follows is not pleasant to watch. However, before anything is initiated between them, the camera is focused on The Best in the World and everything, from lighting to the angle, resembles the latest promo that we saw for WWE Bad Blood featuring Cody Rhodes.

The American Nightmare shot a promo for the returning classic PLE that will take place in early October this year. The promo takes place alongside Metro Boomin because his latest hit, GTA, is the official theme song for Bad Blood. WWE used very specific cinematography for the promo that has been airing for a while now and it got Reddit talking about how it looks similar to the scene in which CM Punk featured in during his scene in Rabid. This makes up for two similarities between the stars, both of which you may not have speculated to happen.
