In May 2022, WWE lost two of their biggest stars, Naomi and Sasha Banks. However, Naomi did return to Vince’s Playground at this year’s Royal Rumble, followed by her signing on to SmackDown. Unfortunately, Banks’ fans had to hear that she would be debuting for Tony Khan’s AEW. After leaving the WWE, she had a very successful run in NJPW. With her contract over, she is now headed for Khan’s promotion but here is an update about her future that wrestling fans will be interested in.
Even after debuting on AEW, Mercedes Mone will continue to work for NJPW
At Wrestle Kingdom 17 in 2023, Mone made her debut for NJPW. With a new name, she attacked IWGP Women’s Champion Kairi. In February, a month after her debut, she won the title at Battle in the Valley. Her title run would last 64 days till Stardom All-Star Grand Queendom in April. Now that Mone has joined AEW, all fans can think about is when she will debut. Many notable figures think it could be at AEW Big Business. While the hints were clear with the graphics for the show, what about her NJPW run? Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com cleared this up. He took to social media and posted, “We’d reported a while back that Mercedes Mone was expected to continue work with NJPW while signed to AEW.”

This was in response to NJPW’s Giulia claiming she would hold the Strong Women’s Champion title until she could face Mone. This clears up the air about Mone’s NJPW career, as she will appear in both promotions. Despite, Mone entering a new phase in her career, a close figure to her hopes that she makes her comeback to WWE.

Bayley’s continued hope for Sasha Banks to return to the WWE
While Mone is headed to AEW, WWE’s Bayley is hopeful that she will return one day. Bayley and Banks have had a long and beloved career in the eyes of the WWE Universe. To this day, their Iron Man match at NXT TakeOver: Respect in October 2015 is considered to be the pinnacle of women’s wrestling.

While talking to Gorilla Position, Bayley said, “I would love to one day step back in the ring with her. I would love, whether it’s teaming with her. Whether it’s against her.” What do you think?
