WWE and AEW have a symbiotic relationship because they are the top two wrestling promotions in the world. Each promotion’s events often invoke comparisons, trivia, and similarities. Tonight, AEW All In descended upon our screens straight from Wembley Stadium, London. The event offered a lot of fun and surprises to its plate. For the zero hour of the show, Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara cropped up on the frontline to issue an open challenge to the entire roster at last night’s Collision, adding some unexpected thrill to the card. However, when one-half of the ROH Tag team champs appeared in a backstage interview, his antics largely resembled Dustin’s half-brother Cody Rhodes’. Fans immediately started to rant at the comments, keeping aside the actual turn of events that transpired on their screens.

Guevara has a well-documented history with the American Nightmare. The Spanish God” was crowned undisputed TNT Champion when he knocked out Cody Rhodes in a wild Ladder Match on Dynamite back in 2022. This was the last time the duo met in the ring since Rhodes left for WWE. But despite having the upper hand in the match, it seems Guevara has huge respect for the WWE Champion.

Guevara also faced a crushing loss at the hands of the American Nightmare during AEW Rampage 2021. He lost his TNT Champion to the former Stardust but handled the setback with good spirit.

Now, given how his former peer is living, probably the peak of his career with his dream belt in his waist might look fascinating to the 31-year-old and many of his AEW acquaintances. And the impersonation might be nothing but a byproduct of this long-standing admiration.

Fans chastise Sammy Guevara for his poor Cody Rhodes impersonation

Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed Universal WWE World Champion, holds a very irresistible charm with his presence. The way the former AEW star jumped ship to his old promotion and finished his story as promised after a lot of back and forth is truly awe-inspiring. He earned the tag of the most celebrated babyface in the entire promotion, certainly for a reason. And now it seems that AEW’s talents also want a piece of him and replicate his success. Guevara’s way of holding the title and donning a signature suit clearly shows his secret admiration for the American Nightmare. Fans didn’t take the replication kindly and named him wannabe Rhodes.

A few fans also thought that Sammy Guevara looked a bit like Andrade at first glance. Nevertheless, a unanimous option prevailed again as they also agreed with the Cody Rhodes theory.
