Ricochet‘s departure from WWE was a matter of time a few weeks ago. The wrestler told the company that he would leave once his contract expired. Finally, on July 1, Ricochet officially became a free agent after his contract with WWE expired. Since then, negotiations between All Elite Wrestling and Ricochet have accelerated. In fact, Ricochet’s agent was present in the locker room at AEW Dynamite. Moreover, the 35-year-old invoked an interesting comparison that highlights a storied feud in the horizon.

Now that Ricochet’s time in WWE has officially ended after seven years and several titles won, everything points to him starting a new stage in his career in AEW at the age of 35. He has a lot ahead of him in his career. In fact, he is already looking forward to having a fight that everyone has been waiting for. The prospect of facing off against the Aerial Assassin entices the former WWE star.

In fact, Ricochet has let his feelings known after comparing a matchup from NXT Heatwave to his previous encounter with Will Ospreay. One that has earned its place in the NJPW Hall of Fame as one of the best matches a crowd can get to see.

So who did Ricochet compare his matchup with? Well, it was none other that Kelani Jordan and Sol Ruca who earned the acclaim.

Ricochet implies a rematch by bringing forth a new comparison?

WWE celebrated tonight a new premium show of its NXT brand, NXT Heatwave, this time from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The WWE Universe witnessed Kelani Jordan defeat Sol Ruca to retain her NXT Women’s North American Championship during the marquee event. After Kelani Jordan became the first NXT Women’s North American Champion by winning a ladder match at Battleground, it was decided that the winner of the match between Sol Ruca and Arianna Grace would be the next challenger for the title. Ruca won the match, thus obtaining the opportunity.

The fight was dynamic from the start, with various moves and spots by both fighters showing their intent to give fans a spectacle to watch. And one of those moments was a combination of acrobatic moves that reminded Ricochet of his match against Will Ospreay at NJPW back in 2016. As he re-shared the clip of the fight between the two WWE superstars and wrote, “Looks like female version of me vs @WillOspreay hahaha”.

But knowing that he is likely headed to All Elite Wrestling and actually lost the NJPW encounter, it is possible that he might be setting up his feud with the Aerial Assassin who lost his fight against Swerve Strickland at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. So what better than the two giving the fans another recap of the highlight-worthy fight they had back in 2016?

With Ricochet’s departure, there were also speculations that host Samantha Irvin, Ricochet’s real-life fiancée, could also leave the Stamford-based promotion. However, that did not turn out to be the truth. But AEW fans would be happy anyway to have the service of Prince Puma in their ranks.
