The wrestling business requires the performers to stick to a planned schedule. However, the instances of wrestlers being late for a match or event is not unknown; or in some cases, not showing up even after their availability has been advertised. WWE legends Stone Cold and The Ultimate Warrior have been known to avoid appearing at events before.

Current AEW and former WWE superstar Samoa Joe found once found himself at the receiving end of one such incident. The said incident occurred at the 2007 TNA Turning Point PPV. Joe was part of a team also featuring Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

 They were taking on the trio of Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, and Tomko in the main event. However, the late Hall of Famer did not show up for the match. Joe stormed down to the ring and cut a passionate promo about the state of the promotion. He questioned the lack of professionalism in the locker room and upper management of TNA.

Samoa Joe opens on the Scott Hall

In a recent interaction with Kurt Angle on The Kurt Angle Show, Joe lifted the lid on the infamous incident. Angle asked the Samoan Submission Machine whether he regrets what he did back in 2007.

Samoa Joe replied, “So that whole thing was really weird. Without getting much into the backstage mix-up. You know essentially we had a no-show, and really I think I have a little bit more of a broader view on things, after the fact you know what I mean.”

“And really I wasn’t upset about that because at that time in TNA had been so much craziness, you know, prior to that at this point most of us were like not even surprised. It really sucks to admit that was the vibe at that timeadded Joe.

Scott Hall was reportedly suffering from food poisoning at the time. But Joe went on to criticize him nevertheless. His comments in the ring later caused a backstage ruckus involving him and Kevin Nash. The fans at the turning point event seemed to sympathize with Joe as they chanted his name throughout.

Samoa Joe has seen it all

Known for his technical in-ring prowess Joe began his wrestling career in the independent circuit. His time with TNA really showcased his tremendous in-ring work and unwavering work ethic.  Joe made his WWE main roster debut in 2017 and was involved in some heavyweight feuds with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

WWE released him earlier this year. Joe currently plies his trade with the rival promotion AEW. And he is the current ROH Television champion regularly featuring in AEW programming.

Samoa Joe’s recent comments and his rant in the past did expose some hard truths about TNA. The promotion has been embroiled in controversies regarding unprofessional attitudes. And this may have been one of the reasons for the company’s fall from grace.
