CM Punk battled Eddie Kingston at AEW Full Gear 2021, and it was quite an entertaining match. Both pro-wrestlers gave it their all, and Kingston even left Punk bleeding.

Now, during the match, Punk teased John Cena’s signature five-knuckle shuffle, but did not actually do it. He revealed why he teased it, and the reason is truly amusing.

“I have one boss when I’m in the ring, and I often like to say I have no boss when I’m in the ring but the truth is it’s the people,” Punk said. “I listen to them and sometimes I go with the flow and let them take me places, and sometimes, regardless of the seven-year gap, I’ve been doing this for a minute and I know what I’m doing. To me, it’s fun just to f*** with people. This is the whole juice for me, right? Getting reactions, getting different reactions.” H/t Wrestling Inc

Even with the mixed reactions, the match quite entertained the fans. Punk emerged victorious, but Kingston’s final actions could be the reason this feud continues.

After the match, Punk put out his hand for a sportsperson-spirited handshake. Unfortunately, Kingston was in no mood to acknowledge the victor and walked away.

CM Punk ensured to pay Eddie Guerrero the highest tribute

Even before the match, Punk revealed the match was for Eddie Guerrero. Moreover, he wanted to capitalize on the fact that he was fighting someone with the same first name, and get the crowd to cheer “Eddie”.

“16 years ago today we lost Eddie Guerrero, and I just thought, I’m wrestling a dude tonight [with the same name]. How great is this going to be when I get them chanting for Eddie?”

The fans did end up chanting Eddie, and it was an extremely surreal moment for CM Punk and others around.

Keeping Punk aside, even Chris Jericho paid a tribute to Eddie Guerrero during The Inner Circle’s match against ATT. He executed Guerrero’s frog splash, and everyone knew in that moment what it meant.
