Fans saw the last of MJF at the AEW World’s End on December 30, 2023. On that night, the company’s biggest star failed to defend his title against Samoa Joe, and his world was shattered when he realized The Devil, who was hell-bent on ruining his life, was none other than his close friend, Adam Cole. To add salt to the wound, he was removed from AEW’s roster page. This led fans to ask one question: Where is MJF? Now it looks like we have an answer.

MJF puts AEW on hold for acting gig

As reported by Deadline, the filming of a Jewish summer camp comedy called The Floaters has officially ended. While the star cast is studded with many known names, another familiar face for fans will be Maxwell Jacob Friedman or MJF. Friedman is set to star in the film in a major role alongside Jackie Tohn, Aya Cash, Seth Green, and Dan Ahdoot, along with many other familiar faces.

The story revolves around a struggling musician named Nomi (played by Tohn). While her music career struggles to lift off, she decides to accept a job and mentor misfits at her friend Mara (played by Podemski)’s Jewish summer camp called “The Floaters.”

What follows next is the two friends trying to keep the summer camp alive and floating amidst all the competition. There are no details about when the movie will be released. However, it looks like the filming of this movie has kept Friedman from appearing on AEW. It has been stated that the movie has entered the post-production phase. While fans might have to wait to see MJF in a comedic role, they can still watch his debut Hollywood movie.

What was MJF’s first big Hollywood break?

Just like many pro wrestlers, the AEW World Champion has had his big movie screen break where he got to star along with Zac Efron. MJF could be seen in the latest wrestling, drama biopic, the Iron Claw. The movie chronicled the turbulent lives of the Von Erich brothers and their family.

MJF played the role of Lance Von Erich, who was the kayfabe cousin of the brothers. While his scenes were cut short in the film so that the focus could be more on the brothers’ story, his acting was commended by all. The movie is still running in theaters and fans can expect it to hit WBD’s streaming platform, MAX (previously HBO Max) by spring 2024. How do you think this will affect MJF’s future AEW appearances?
