Tony Khan once again invited the wrath of the pro-wrestling community by executing a firing spree this week. On April 1st, in a rare course of events, the news broke that a total of 10 contracted AEW talents were cut off. One of these victims of Khan’s sudden whim was The Tate Twins, popularly known as ”The Boys.” While they bore with fate, they didn’t accept their fate facing down as they issued a subtle warning to their former boss.
Their recent social media post hinting at a story of injustice made the netizens fuming with rage.

Naturally, the AEW head honcho has widely been infamous for his habit of stockpiling superstars and housing them until the very end of their contracts. But that practice has not served him well recently. After weeks of declined ratings in the weekly shows and a lackluster AEW Big Business, Khan decided to be a little experimental to alleviate the graph. He reevaluated the roster and made massive cuts in the talents. Whether it helps him or not in the long term is still unsure. But for now, it went against him, garnering a lot of brickbats all across the world.
Khan defended his move during the media call saying he didn’t have any other way than to make tough calls as he needed to sign other top talents for the company’s expanding growth and needed to get rid of the dead weight first for that. The budget factor is the focal point here, after all.
Elaborating on The Boys’ release specifically, Khan divulged they had missed multiple important shows back to back.
Asked specifically about The Boys being cut given they are in a key ROH storyline with Dalton Castle, Khan said the cuts are all different situations. He said both Brandon & Brent Tate didn't show to work on multiple occasions and he had to make the tough call. https://t.co/OfqV5yAXi3
