In recent months, several of the world’s best wrestlers have chosen to join AEW. Even turning down attractive offers from WWE. This trend has once again highlighted that many free agents prefer AEW for a variety of reasons. In an interview on Cincy 360, Tony Khan highlighted that one of AEW’s major strengths is its solid roster. Khan also pointed out that most free agents choose to join AEW. That is because they consider the level of fighting to be superior to that of any other company. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case when it comes to botches.

AEW has garnered a reputation for promoting a major, high-risk style of wrestling, very similar to the one back in ECW. But one must not forget that it is equally difficult to pull off the moves. Because of their high-risk style, they have gained notoriety because of their high-profile errors. In fact, their recent show featured two botches on the same night, both scary enough to leave their opponents paralyzed, if not dead!

Neck injuries are one of the worst when it comes to pro wrestling. Icons such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brett Hart had their careers cut short because of neck injuries. The trend continued in the later generation with Edge, Bryan Danielson, and Paige being asked to take early retirement due to the same, and although they managed to make a return, Tyson Kidd and Big-E weren’t so lucky as they now have backstage roles in the promotion because of their inability to wrestle anymore.

The worst case that comes to mind is that of WWE superstar Droz, who was left paralyzed for life until his death, all because of a botched powerbomb. So fans sure are aware of the risks involved in wrestling. So when Pac and Willow Nightingale botched their moves against Lio Rush and Deonna Purrazzo and almost broke their opponents’ necks, the internet did not hold back.

Fans slam AEW and Tony Khan for promoting unsafe environment after recent botches

Taking to social media, fans were quick to point out how two deadly botches were made on the same night at AEW. Something that surely could’ve ruined a wrestler’s life. So, going no holds barred, pro wrestling fans called out Tony Khan’s claim that All Elite Wrestling, according to him, is the safest place to wrestle.

Another fan called out AEW for the constant botches on their shows. While botches take place in WWE too, like Tonga Loa taking multiple attempts to hit a low blow, for AEW, it has truly become a weekly thing.

Some fans took a jibe at Tony Khan’s aforementioned claim that AEW is where the best wrestle. AEW undoubtedly displays a high level of wrestling due to its diverse roster with unique skillsets. But it is also important to note that the company has been offering large economic contracts in recent years. Some of these offers have even surpassed those made by WWE. This has influenced the decision of many free agents to join the company.
