Earlier this week, Tony Khan expressed his displeasure on his X account over WWE giving Jinder Mahal a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship, considering Mahal had been virtually inconsequential throughout all of 2023. Khan attempted to use this example to support some of his decisions in AEW’s programming, which led to annoyance among some fans and even prompted a direct response from Mahal.

This later went on to become a back-and-forth that also involved other veterans speaking in support of Mahal. And now, Mahal has come up with another fiery comeback against the AEW President.

In a recent appearance on the ‘Gorilla Position’ podcast, Jinder Mahal appeared with Natalya as guests on the show. In the podcast, they talked about several topics, but one key highlight was Mahal’s response to Tony Khan calling him out for getting title shots. He claims that he is the Modern-day Maharaja, so he can get a title shot anytime he wants.

He said, “I think Tony Khan is forgetting I’m the Modern Day Maharaja, former WWE Champion, and being a former WWE Champion, I should be number one contender anytime I want. The Royal Rumble happened a week after that. If you notice, I wasn’t in it because I didn’t feel there was a need. The Modern Day Maharaja wants a title match; he can just get one. It’s okay. Overall, it’s great. It caused a lot of buzz, and I appreciate the competition because it makes everybody better.”

These comments by Tony Khan seem to have become common practice. However, in recent months, fans have begun to criticize Khan for these types of posts. And they are no longer as well received as they were in the past. Despite this, Khan is not expected to intend to stop posting these types of messages and will continue to express criticism of WWE publicly. As for Mahal, he would surely be looking for another title shot, especially after getting rid of something that had been troubling in the past. But what? Let’s find out.
