According to an old tweet by a pro wrestling source, Okada would be kicking the forbidden door to be a part of the Royal Rumble. It read, “Kazuchika Okada kicks down all sorts of door metaphors and follows in the footsteps of AJ Styles by making his WWE debut in the Royal Rumble.” By now, we all know that this did not occur. And Tony Khan made sure to remind the world of this tweet just moments after announcing that the Rainmaker is All-Elite now. Replying to the old speculation, Khan uploaded a GIF that said, “But it’s not true.”

But finally, the speculation about the future of Kazuchika Okada is over. The month of March has progressed in the best possible way for All Elite Wrestling after the Revolution PPV and Okada’s arrival. Moreover, the festivities don’t end here, as Mercedes Moné is expected to land at the company next week. But let’s talk a bit more about the Japanese star, shall we? Maybe a bit more about what made him a legend.

All about the Rainmaker

Hailing from the Toryumon school of Último Dragón, Kazuchika Okada began his career as a professional wrestler in August 2004. His graduation in 2007 led him to begin a three-year stint with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He later put a halt to those endeavors three years later to pursue opportunities abroad.

In 2012, after a year of returning to NJPW, Kazuchika Okada adopted the character of The Rainmaker, which he described as a combination of the styles he learned in Mexico, Japan, and the United States. It was here that he began his rise as one of the best competitors globally. Okada led the group CHAOS for twelve years and was considered by many foreign fans to be a standard-bearer for the company.

Kazuchika Okada won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship seven times (two of them in its World Heavyweight variant) and is credited with the longest title reign with 720 consecutive days as champion between 2016 and 2018. He also boasts four victories in the G1 Climax tournament and two New Japan Cups. His contract with NJPW ended on February 1, with his last appearance taking place on February 24.
